Varactor Diodes

Definition:

4. Phase-Locked Loops (PLLs): In PLLs, varactors are used to control the frequency of the voltage-controlled oscillator.

Selection Criteria:
When selecting a varactor diode, several factors should be considered:
1. Capacitance Range: The minimum and maximum capacitance values should match the requirements of the application.
2. Tuning Range: The voltage range over which the capacitance varies should be suitable for the intended use.
3. Capacitance vs. Voltage Characteristics: The diode should have a linear or predictable capacitance change with voltage for accurate control.
