RS-485/RS-422 Transceivers

RS485/RS422 IC Definition:

RS485 and RS422 are communication protocols used for serial data transmission, primarily in industrial and networking applications. They are defined by the Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) and the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA). RS485 is a standard for balanced, differential signaling that allows for longer distances and higher noise immunity compared to RS422, which is a single-ended signaling standard.

1. RS485: It supports multiple devices on a single pair of wires, facilitating a network of up to 32 units (with a total of 32 units including the master). RS485 is capable of data rates up to 10 Mbps over short distances, but this decreases with increasing distance, typically to 100 kbps at 1200 meters.

2. RS422: It allows for point-to-point or multi-drop configurations with up to 10 units on a single pair of wires. RS422 supports data rates of up to 10 Mbps over short distances, similar to RS485, but it is more susceptible to noise and interference due to its single-ended signaling.
