RF Couplers

RF Coupler Definition:
An RF (Radio Frequency) coupler is a passive electrical device used in RF and microwave systems to extract a portion of the signal from a transmission line without significantly affecting the main signal path. It is designed to provide a controlled amount of signal power to a secondary load or to a device, such as a power meter or an antenna analyzer, while maintaining the integrity of the primary signal.

Function:
The primary function of an RF coupler is to sample a portion of the RF signal for measurement, , or control purposes. It does this by creating a small loop or gap in the transmission line, which allows a portion of the electromagnetic field to be coupled out. The coupler can be directional or non-directional, depending on the design.
